FD&C Dyes

The term FD&C is an abbreviation that makes reference to The United States Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, that is a set of laws passed by Congress in 1938 giving authority to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to
oversee the safety of food, drugs, and cosmetics.

FD&C is short for - Food, Drugs & Cosmetics certified color additives for use in foods in the United States. Several additional D&C (Drugs & Cosmetics) colorings are important colors for use in drugs or cosmetics only.
